Attention 8th grade parents! If your son will be playing football this fall, plan to attend a football parent meeting on Wednesday, July 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the gym. Coaches will be on hand to provide information about the practice and game schedules, as well as answer any of your questions. See you there! Construction Update
This week, work is beginning on the footings for the building foundation. We expect the exterior walls to go up next week. The steel beams will be delivered in early September and everything will be in place by the first part of October to begin closing the building in. Back by Popular Demand -- Saint Albert Gridiron Raffle Are you ready for some football!?! Saint Albert will once again be sponsoring an NFL raffle. All you have to do to play is purchase a Gridiron card for $20, and you will be entered into the raffle for the 17-week duration of the NFL season. On the card, you are randomly assigned three NFL team. The total points scored by your three team is your score for the week. Prizes are given for the 8 highest scores and the 3 lowest scores -- a total of $575 will be given away per week, as follows:
Proceeds from the raffle will be used to make improvements in our extracurricular activities (bleachers, uniforms/equipment and other item not covered in the budget). Proceeds from last year's raffle were used to purchase new weight room equipment for students in 7th-12th grades. In order to be eligible for the first week of prizes, card stubs must be turned in to the Saint Albert Business Office by Thursday, Sept. 4. High School Baseball Banquet -- August 10
Coach Schreiber will host a baseball banquet on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m. at Scott Street. All high school players and their families are welcome to attend. Summer Sports Camps at Saint Albert  Attention Saint Albert student athletes! Following is a list of sports camps that Saint Albert is sponsoring this summer: Soccer -- July 19 (rain date, July 26). The camp will be held at Al Leber Field from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., with a special goalkeeper session from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The camp is open to boys and girls in 4th-9th grades and costs $20 per player. Football -- Aug. 4-8. Boys in grades 8th-12th who wish to play football in the fall should plan to attend this camp, held from 5:30-8 p.m. on Al Leber Field. The cost is $35. Please bring cleats. Sign up begins at 5 p.m. on the first day of camp. Jr. High Volleyball -- Aug. 4-6. Girls in 5th and 6th grades will attend camp from 8-10 a.m. and girls in 7th and 8th grades will attend from 10 a.m.-noon. The cost of the camp is $25 per person and includes a camp T-shirt. Little Falcon Football Clinic -- Aug. 6. Boys in grades 4th-7th are invited to participate in this football clinic from 5:30-8 p.m. at Al Leber Field. Registration begins the day of the clinic at 5 p.m. The cost is $30. Cross Country -- Aug. 11-15. This camp is for boys and girls entering 9-12th grades. The cost of the camp is $30 per person, which includes a camp T-shirt. To get the most benefit from the camp, participants should have a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks of running prior to the camp. Host Family Needed for Foreign Exchange Student Saint Albert is looking for a host family for a foreign exchange student from China. Pictured here with his parents, Jesse is 17-years-old and enjoys basketball, soccer and tennis. His favorite subjects in school are English, Math and Physics and he hopes to one day be an architect or engineer. Change in Walgreens ScripWalgreens has changed the dollar amounts for their Scrip cards. Walgreens Scrip is now available in $25 and $100 increments, but the $20 cards are longer available. Also, Scrip for J Jill Clothing is now available in $25 cards with an 8% return. And don't forget . . . the Scrip Office has new summer hours -- 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you will be picking up your Scrip on Fridays, please plan to do so by 4 p.m. instead of 4:30 p.m. And, as always, orders must be received by noon on Mondays.
