About Saint Albert

Who is Saint Albert the Great?

Saint Albert the Great is the patron saint of students. He was born in what is now known as Germany in 1206. The son of a military nobleman, he is known as an influential teacher, preacher and administrator. Saint Albert introduced Greek and Arabic science and philosophy to medieval Europe.

He is known for his wide interest in what became known later as the natural sciences, such as biology, botany, etc. He wrote and illustrated guides to his observations and was considered on par with Aristotle as an authority on these matters. We celebrate his feast day every November.
