2015 Benefit Auction - Grosses over $200,000

Thank you to all the attendees, donors, and supporters of our school's annual Benefit Auction. This year's event featured a new self-service dinner, an Arctic Cat Prowler Raffle, reduced number of live auction items (39), and some truly fabulous decorations to celebrate Cheers to 50 Years!

The 2015 Benefit Auction grossed over $200,000, with both the live and super and silent auctions significantly exceeding their financial goals. This year's live auction increased proceeds, raising $90,000, while decreasing the number of items.

We say a special thank you to our auction chair couple, Mark & Kim Otto, and our honorary auction chair, Fr. Paul Monahan. Their dedication and hard work made this event as huge success!

Fr. Monahan was also the well-deserved recipient of the Freddie Falcon award - an award given to an individual who supports the fund raising efforts of Saint Albert Schools through hands-on leadership. Fr. Monahan, our school's Senior Chaplain, has been a priest for over 50 years and continues to serve the Saint Albert and Catholic community.

When Saint Albert Catholic High School was completed and opened its doors in 1964, the Bishop transferred him to Council Bluffs to teach and become dean of boys. Fr. Paul was a teacher and counselor at Saint Albert High School in the 1960s and 70s and served as principal from 1975 to 1978.

After leaving Saint Albert in 1979, he was the pastor of several parishes in southwest Iowa, including Holy Family in Council Bluffs, St. Mary's in Avoca, and Holy Rosary in Glenwood.

In 2004, Fr. Monahan officially retired from parish ministry, but continued to serve in a variety of ways. In 2008, Fr. Monahan was inducted into the Saint Albert Hall of Recognition, as a person who is dedicated to the success of our students, our school, our parishes, and the community. In June of 2010, he celebrated 50 years of ordination with a special Mass on our school's campus.

Now retired from parish ministry, he continues to act as Senior Chaplain to Saint Albert students. As Senior Chaplain, Fr. Monahan guides students in their faith, assists with Liturgies, Reconciliation and retreat days, celebrates Mass with our students, and assists with the Faith Formation Committee. He is a friendly, familiar face in our hallways and the students love stopping by to visit with him.

Thank you to all the attendees who celebrated Fr. Monahan with us on Saturday night. We look forward to the next 50 years on our cradle to college campus! Click here to read more.
